Saturday, November 22, 2026 | 1PM Goshen Green Farm — Barn Gallery and Outside 3301 Route 207, Goshen, NY Admission: Donation-based; suggested donation $20 de novo dance and Goshen Green Farm present RED THREAD, an immersive performance installation exploring protection, connection, and collective healing through movement, ritual, and the ancient symbolism of red thread and weaving. Visitors are welcome to witness, wander, and participate at their own pace. No dance or performance experience is necessary. Across cultures, red thread has been associated with blessing, protection, sacred bonds, life force, and prayer. RED THREAD performance uses this simple material to create a living communal ritual. Women weaving a net, making a charm, tying a knot evokes deep remembering of our interconnectedness. The gesture of tying a knot makes the intention for connection and protection physical. The performance asks what if the ed thread offers us a way through these times and into the connection with each other, our community, and the land on which we live. It invites the audience to mend what’s needs healing and to offer a symbol of protection to the nature around us. The experience begins in the Barn Gallery, where the audience witnesses women dressed in red weave something with red thread through slow, meditative movement. The women then dance and exchange with the audience, offering them the thread and inviting them to become a part of the experience. The performance then moves outward onto the land, where audience members are invited to carry red thread into the landscape, tying it to trees and branches, and helping create a collective installation. “We are living in a time of profound rupture, and many of us carry grief, anger, fear, or helplessness,” says Irina Wen, PhD, Artistic Co-Director of de novo dance. “Sometimes words are not enough. RED THREAD turns to an ancient symbol of red thread and a very old human impulse to work with our hands, to create and weave, and to offer our care to the world around us.” Further information about the performance: goshengreenfarm.com/events-1/de-novo-dance-presents-red-thread |
